Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of Status.
Last updated: September 28, 2026
Who we are
Status is provided by Netcode, Inc., Chatham, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between Netcode, Inc. and you (or the organization you represent).
The service
Status monitors HTTP, TCP, DNS, SSL, domain, ping and heartbeat targets you configure, can require a failure to be confirmed from more than one region before opening an incident (for checks that run from our probes; heartbeat and domain checks are evaluated centrally), and delivers alerts by email and, on plans that include them, by webhook. Push notifications are available in our mobile apps once released; if you enable them we process a device token to deliver alerts to your device. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your organization's operations.
Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for the actions of the team members you invite, and for keeping credentials and API keys secure. Roles exist so you can limit what each team member can do — use them.
Acceptable use
- Only configure checks and webhook destinations for endpoints you're authorized to monitor and contact.
- Don't use Status to probe, scan, or attack infrastructure you don't own or have permission to test.
- Don't attempt to access other accounts' data or the platform's internal systems.
- Status pages and alerts are informational; they don't replace a certified incident-management process where one is required.
Billing
Plans are billed annually in advance. Starting a trial requires a valid card, which is verified with 3-D Secure where your card issuer supports it; your card is not charged during the trial. A free trial is available only on these conditions, and is not an entitlement: your email identity (addresses that differ only by a "+" tag, or by dots in a Gmail address, count as the same), your card and the network you sign up from must not already have been used for one — we allow one trial per email identity and one per card in any 12-month period, and three per IP address in any 30-day period — and we may decline a trial that doesn't meet them, in which case you can still subscribe and your card is charged at once. On the day your trial ends, we automatically charge your card the annual price of the plan you chose, unless you cancel the trial before then, in which case the trial simply ends on its end date and you are not charged — we email you a reminder 3 days before the charge. If that charge is declined, monitoring is paused and the account is suspended; we retry the charge once, 24 hours later, and you can also restore your account sooner by updating your payment method and resuming. If you never add a card, your signup is never activated and the account is closed after 30 days. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge for the remaining period; if that prorated plan-upgrade charge would fall below our small-charge minimum, it is waived. The exact amount due, including any waiver, is shown before you confirm. Add-ons are always charged pro-rata for the remaining period when you add them. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal, at the end of the term you've paid for. If you reduce or remove an add-on, it stays in place until the end of the term you've paid for and drops off at your next renewal, and there is no refund or partial refund; if your usage exceeds the new plan's limits at that point, over-limit checks are paused (newest first) and you're notified by email, and extra alert channels are disabled rather than deleted.
Automatic renewal. Once your trial converts or you subscribe, your plan renews automatically every year until you cancel. At each renewal we charge the card saved on your account the plan's current list price at that time, in your billing currency (Canadian dollars if your billing country is Canada, US dollars otherwise), plus applicable tax, and any add-ons at the current add-on rates. A price you paid earlier does not fix the price of a later renewal, unless we have agreed a different price with you in writing, which then applies instead. We email you 14 days and 3 days before each renewal with the amount and the date, so you see the amount in advance. You can turn off automatic renewal at any time from the billing page by cancelling: your plan stays active until the end of the term you've paid for and you won't be charged again. If a renewal payment is declined, the account is suspended and you're emailed once; you can restore it by replacing your card with a working one and resuming.
Payments. Payments are processed by PayPal, our payment processor. You pay with a credit or debit card only — there's no digital wallet involved; card details are entered directly with PayPal and we never see or store your full card number. PayPal's own terms and privacy statement also apply to the payment.
No refunds. There are no refunds or partial refunds for cancellation, downgrades, removed add-ons or unused time; a plan you've paid for runs to the end of its term. If you think we've made a billing error, or want to dispute a charge, contact support and we'll look into it. Any refund we choose to give, for example to correct a mistake, is at our sole discretion and is returned to the original payment method.
Credits. We may add credit to your account (for example as a goodwill gesture). Credit is applied automatically to your next charges, has no cash value, and is not redeemable for cash or refundable.
Availability & liability
We operate the platform with commercially reasonable care but provide it "as is" without warranty of uninterrupted availability. Multi-region confirmation reduces false alerts but cannot guarantee every outage is detected or every alert delivered — Status is a monitoring aid, not a guarantee of your service's uptime. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months preceding a claim.
Termination
You may cancel at any time from the billing page. Cancelling doesn't end your plan early and there is no immediate cancellation: service continues to the end of the term you've paid for, then the plan expires and isn't renewed. Cancelling a trial means the trial ends on its end date with no charge. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. On account closure, data is handled per the privacy policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or the service, except where the law where you live gives you a right to bring a claim there.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes are announced in advance through the dashboard or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
