Choosing a plan

What Starter, Professional, and Enterprise include, and how annual billing and upgrades/downgrades work.

Updated 2026-09-23

Status has three plans, all billed annually — there's no monthly option. Annual billing keeps the price per check lower and means one invoice a year instead of twelve. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and the trial runs on whichever plan you choose.

What differs between plans

Each plan is defined by a set of entitlements — limits and feature flags that apply immediately when you subscribe or change plans:

  • Checks — how many checks you can run at once.
  • Regions per check — how many distinct probe regions a single check can use.
  • Confirmations — the maximum number of regions you can require to agree before an incident opens (see How multi-region confirmation works).
  • Check interval — the fastest interval a check can run on.
  • Alert channels — how many email and webhook channels you can create, and how many can attach to a single check.
  • Status pages — how many public status pages you can run and how many subscribers each page can have.
  • Team seats — how many people can be on the account: 1 on Starter, 3 on Professional and 20 on Enterprise. The Owner and every enabled member use a seat, and so does every invite that hasn't been accepted yet. Extra seats can be added to any plan as an add-on. See Invite your team and choose roles.
  • API access — whether the public API is available and how many API keys you can create.
  • Reports — monthly uptime reports and summary emails are included on every plan; CSV and PDF report downloads are on Professional and Enterprise.

Exact numbers for every limit, and add-on prices, are shown on the pricing page and update automatically if plans change.

Upgrading

An upgrade takes effect immediately — the higher plan's limits are available right away, and you're charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period. If that prorated amount is very small (below our minimum charge), the upgrade is free. The confirmation shows the exact amount, or that it's waived, before you confirm. Add-ons (extra regions, alert emails or seats) are always charged pro-rata for the rest of the period when you add them. Reducing or removing an add-on leaves it in place until the end of the term you've paid for, and it drops off at your next renewal, with no refund.

Downgrading

A downgrade takes effect at your next renewal, at the end of the term you've paid for, not immediately. There is no refund or partial refund for the difference or for unused time. Before it applies, you can see exactly what would need to change (for example, "12 checks / 5 allowed") and adjust ahead of time. If you're still over a limit when the downgrade takes effect, nothing is deleted — extra checks are paused (newest first) and extra alert channels are disabled, and you're emailed the list so you can decide what to keep. If the account has more people than the new plan's seats, waiting invites are revoked first and then the most recently added members are disabled. The Owner is never disabled, and disabled members can be re-enabled once a seat is free.

Paying and renewing

You pay with a credit or debit card — there's no digital wallet involved. Payments are processed by PayPal, and we never see or store your card number. A card is required to start your trial (see Create your account); it's verified with 3-D Secure where your card issuer supports it, and isn't charged during the trial.

Your plan renews automatically every year using your card on file: your plan renews at the plan's current list price in your billing currency, plus applicable tax, and add-ons renew at the current add-on rates. A price you paid earlier doesn't fix a later renewal price, unless we've agreed a different price with you in writing, which then applies instead. We email you 14 and 3 days before each renewal, showing the amount in advance. To stop it, cancel: your plan stays active until the end of the term you've paid for, then expires, and you won't be charged again. There are no refunds or partial refunds for cancelling. See Your card and renewals for the details.

Trial expiry

On the day your trial ends, we automatically charge your card the annual price of the plan you chose, and your subscription starts — unless you cancel the trial before then, in which case the trial ends on its end date and you're not charged. We email you a reminder 3 days before the charge.

If that charge is declined, monitoring is paused and the account is suspended right away; we retry the charge once, 24 hours later. You can restore your account sooner by replacing your card and resuming. Nothing is purged when a trial ends or a charge is declined, so resuming picks up where you left off. (If you never add a card at all, the signup itself is never activated, and is removed after 30 days.)
